Poem prompt 19: Reach back

This prompt is taken from “Who We Were” in The Practice of Poetry.

In Large to small, you connected your event to your own experience.

Now try to connect that personal experience to a past memory–something from childhood, the earlier the better. An instinct. A gut reaction.

If you’ve moved on to a second event, find the intersection and explore from that place.

What takes you back to those young years? Do you stay, or do you return to the present? How does that memory fit inside you now? How does it resonate with your event?
