Day 2 poetry writing prompt

How did your first NaPoWriMo day go? I realized–yikes, I need to come up with a title, too.

Today, for your second poem, write as your persona experiencing a major event in his or her life. It’s happening right now.

What can you see, hear, smell? How do you feel? What elates or antagonizes you–in this moment? Who is standing next to you? Who isn’t?

My favorite line from yesterday’s poem is in yesterday’s comments. What’s yours? Share it with everyone in the comments.

  1. For some reason, today’s attempts—two of them!—were just disasters. I’ve got two 90% complete drafts and in neither of them could I stay in the now.

“Condolences less solid than the ring / so cold around my finger—fist—anger / so opposite of everything we felt.”

    Well, tomorrow’s another day.
